thinking of this old chestnut of a simon doonan piece as i will be getting ready to go to family friends dinner at the river club. debating just how insanely pastelled up to get and whether embracing a “black church-lady bonnet” as he recommends might not be the way to go? (keep in mind that the first president of this place was a character called kermit roosevelt so i definitely think the black-church-lady hat will be a big hit.)

also debating whether i love or hate his use of the word “hattitude” to describe the demeanor of wearers of said black church-lady hats. (but who can deny that the word doesn’t describe norman to a tee as he’s wearing his chuckle hut beret finery.)
